Identity: Music

Throughout my life, music has played an intricate part of my identity. Some of importance that it plays in my life, I believe, is influenced by my brother. This past summer, John graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Music. I think that some of his infatuation and obsession with music as spilled over into my life as well. Ever since I can remember, I have loved the sensation of having music surrounding me during the course of a day. There aren't many times in my life where I don't want to listen to music, or would rather have it quiet around me. I repeatedly find myself saying "I wish there were music playing," simply because I love the feeling I get when I listen to music. You know the feeling that I am talking about; the one where you lose yourself in the lyrics and melody of a song. Where everything around you seems to disappear, and you are just sitting there swaying to beat while singing along karaoke style to all of the words (at least the ones you know). The feelings and emotions that inundate are like none other. Music seems to be one of the few things in life that transcends everything. It doesn't matter what race, religion, identity you are, everyone is a fan of quality music. Anyways, this is one of many that is to come in regards to posts on music, as it is a key part of my identity.
