This upcoming weekend is election weekend at my fraternity. During this time, 11 different positions will be voted upon at chapter. These 11 new officials will facilitate the smooth function of my chapter’s house, as well as serve on the Executive Board which oversees all major decisions for the Gamma Upsilon Chapter. For this year’s election, I was nominated for Secretary, Scholarship Chair, and Risk Management Chair. I respectfully declined the position of Secretary & House Management chair, simply because those positions don’t quite fit my personality. My true calling in regards to giving back to my house comes in the form of Scholarship chair. Academics are at the forefront of my priorities. I spend the vast majority of my time during each day working on my schoolwork, as I truly realize the importance of succeeding in college. In a dream world, I will win this executive position in the house. My goal is simple, see to it that all my brothers achieve academic success by working as hard as is necessary to fulfill such wishes. If my dream comes to fruition, then my house’s overall Grade Point Average will be above a 3.0 for the year, thus aiding my fraternity’s ultimate goal of receiving another True Merit award this year.
