One of the many things that I have taken away from bodybuilding/strongmen training since I started Sophomore year of High School, is the psychological toughness/fortitude one must have to come anywhere close to achieving his/her goals. One of my favorite quotes, that I live by, I first heard from 8x Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman, who stated "If you always do what you have always done, then you will always get what you have always got."
Ronnie Coleman used this quote as one of his key motivational tools during his Mr. Olympia reign. Once he was able to find the schedule/nutrition that worked for him to win his first Olympia, he continued to use that same technique for the next seven years, never deviating from that routine. He was so strict, that over the eight year period, he didn’t even change his breakfast (which consists of 16 egg whites and 2 cups of grits with cheese).
Personally, I love this quote. I try my best to live by it daily. I am able to apply this phrase to most facets of life. Academics, weightlifting, and many other things can be linked to this quote. When it comes to academics, I strive to work as hard as I have in the past (if not more)(which has worked wonders in the past) in order to gain the same results that I have got all my life.
All in all, once you find a routine/system that works for you, continue to use that technique in order to further your life’s successes.
