You cannot be too old to love Disney/Pixar/Animated movies. Some of my favorite films of all time are Cars, Into the Wild, Monsters Inc Wall-E, etc. Something about the computer animated video just seems to capture my attention as much as a great action movie does. In addition, the level of humor that is presented through animated films tend to correlate quite nicely with the level of humor that I like to use in day to day conversations. I know that I am not the most mature young man in the world, but I feel safe saying that I doubt I am the only one that feels this way.
The great thing here is that the visual mode is just the tip of this “maturity iceberg” if you will. Two of my favorite games, Scrabble and Connect Four. If you were to look on the game’s box, the first age demographic would not be an “18 year old College Freshman who is in a Fraternity and up.” I can’t help it though, those games are addicting, and they require a certain level of creativity and imagination that dull “mature” games don’t require. I think this subject could even be tied to the piece “Hidden Intellectualism,” that we read in class the other week.
I believe that for my age group, there is a certain “cannon” of movies that I am supposed to watch, but truthfully speaking, there is no fun in that. If I am not at my job, or inside a classroom, I like to ostracize my maturity and bring out the kid in me. This enables me to revisit the “good ol’ days,” where my biggest worry was to stay inside the lines while I colored in a picture.
