Free Association

Free Association is a therapeautic tactic used by many psychologists. What happens in this circumstance is the doctor will present their patient with a word, and the patient’s responsibility is to respond with the first word that comes to their mind. What most people don’t realize, is that along with this Freudian Psychoanalytical method to getting to the deeper meaning of emotional problems, many patients and doctors are switching over to Internet blogs as a way to treat people. The medical significance that blogging can have is profound as well as well supported. This issue first came to my attention as I was working on my annotated bibliography. I never really thought about this issue, but the more and more I read about it, the more it made sense as a legitimate medicinal option. Think about what blogs can provide to people willing to express their thoughts. It provides an audience who is willing to listen as well as respond to the content in an effort to resolve the issue; a reasonable option to reveal emotional/social/psychological issues that the patient is going through; as well as provide a certain level of anonymity if the blogger is wishing to keep themselves less vulnerable and open to critique. All in all, blogging is able to serve as a very liable method to relieve people of their burdens by acting as an online version of a discussion group.
