Next Chapter

So it's official. Today I went into 297 Design's Student Services office and picked up a pink drop slip for my Design 102 class. I finally decided to change my major from Architecture to History with a degree in Education. With my new major, it would be unnecessary to keep taking D102. It would be a waste of time and effort. D102 included seven hours of actual class time a week, with an average of 40 hours outside of class spent in the studio (these hours have actually been logged). No longer going for architecture, it would be stupid to continue to put forth that much effort for a class that doesn't go towards my new major; thus, I am dropping it.

Anyway, dropping D102 is not the focus of this post. At the epicenter of this post is the fact that I am changing my major. My decision to turn to education was not a surprise. Part of D115 (another design course I am in) is to come up with a contingency plan in case I didn’t make it into the professional Architecture program here at ISU, and my backup plan has always been to turn to teaching. It is no surprise then that I turn to education as my new primary choice.

Many times in my life I have found myself teaching others, or being told that I am/would make a good teacher. This goes hand in hand with the fact that I LOVE to teach and help people.
